California Cling Peach Board Launches
"Director-to-Director" Program
Spearheaded by former school foodservice director Diane Wegner Deshler, the
California Cling Peach Board (CCPB) is proud to introduce the School
Nutrition "Director-to-Director" Advisory Panel. Comprised of foodservice
directors, supervisors and nutrition specialists, the panel was developed to
seek the best ways to meet the needs of school foodservice professionals,
and ultimately, the children served by breakfast and lunch programs.
Participation in the panel is designed to enhance a school's program without
requiring a significant time commitment. The CCPB School Nutrition Advisory
Panel is a "virtual" advisory panel, one in which members connect with the
CCPB via e-mail and phone. By sharing their expertise with Deshler and the
CCPB, participants in the panel will have access to a variety of new
activities and recipes that can be used in schools, including recipe testing
and sampling, staff visits to peach orchards and processors, marketing
materials for cafeteria promotions and new recipes. Professional development
presentations will be designed for staff development days or manager
meetings, which may include visits from local farmers and processors,
tasting and safety information.
Along with these activities, each panel member will receive a monthly e-mail
bulletin sharing new information on USDA commodity updates; advance notice
on peach processors' promotions and sales; news from other innovative
directors; peach programs in development; student taste test news; recipes;
and new cafeteria promotions and materials. The CCPB is excited about
providing the best "American Peaches for America¹s Students," and wants to
support the people who serve our students
