Dear Colleagues,
As spring approaches, here at the California Cling Peach Board, we are working to enhance your school meal and nutrition education programs.
In honor of National Nutrition Month we are pleased to introduce our recently developed peach materials for our Director-to-Director program that provide schools with creative ways to incorporate peaches into their menus. The materials include many suggestions including themed salad bars and recipes from school districts around the country who cooking with peaches. I want to thank all the individuals and districts that were eager to share their recipes with the CCPB and all of you. These new materials will be available on the Peach Board Web-site at www.calclingpeach.com, under the school foodservice section.
In January, the CCPB presented an educational session at the California SNA Conference in Long Beach. The session focuses on domestic agriculture, the importance of buying American, new menu and recipe ideas and introduces a third grade lesson plan that is linked to academic standards. We will present this informative session again at the Florida SNA Conference at the beginning of April. If any of you are interested in having this presentation brought to your state meetings, please feel free to contact me about this.
If your district is serving or cooking with peaches, I always appreciate you sharing recipes and menu ideas with us. Our goal is to spread your successful ideas to other school foodservice and nutrition professionals.
