Know Your Peaches
A Quick Guide to Buying USA
California-Grown Peaches

Q. Did you know that some US branded peach cups, jars and cans contain imported peaches?

A. True. You need to read labels to check the country of origin. In fact, of the nearly 3.1 million cases of canned peaches imported to the United States last year, 73 percent, or 2.25 million, came from China. That's up from 43,000 cases in 2001.

If the product is domestically-grown, you can tell because it will:

1. Not list a country of origin (since the product IS from the USA), or
2. Clearly state “Product of the USA,” or
3. Feature the “Goodness of California” logo
